Data Awareness
Turn on Data Awareness to give Alteryx Copilot permission to access data in your workflow. With access to your data, Alteryx Copilot can provide more intelligent, data aware assistance. With Data Awareness turned off, Alteryx Copilot only has access to workflow metadata.
Note
By enabling Data Awareness, you permit Alteryx Copilot to sample data from your workflow, subject to the terFms of the Alteryx End User License Agreement or other applicable agreement governing your use of Designer Desktop and Alteryx Copilot .
Benefits of Data Awareness
When you turn on Data Awareness, Alteryx Copilot can…
Recommend more appropriate tools or configurations based on your data.
Suggest profiling tools to detect potential issues like nulls or outliers in your data.
Offer guidance on transformations such as converting data types or formatting columns.
Provide enhanced answers to exploratory, analytics-focused prompts where knowing column values helps define next steps.
How Data Awareness Works
Alteryx Copilot sample data at specific tool anchors when it determines the data is necessary to respond accurately to your question.
Data is retrieved from the Designer Browse Everywhere YXBE file. The YXBE file is a temporary snapshot of data available at anchor points after you run a workflow. Learn more about Browse Everywhere data.
To configure how much data Browse Everywhere stores, go to Options > User Settings > Edit User Settings > General > Override Tool Results Settings > Memory Limit per Anchor. By default, the memory limit is capped at 1 MB per anchor.
For Alteryx Copilot to access data in your workflow, you must run the workflow to generate or refresh the YXBE file. If data isn’t available at the requested anchor, Alteryx Copilot might run the workflow to create or refresh the data sample.
