Active Links
The Active Link is a single, global connection between Alteryx Designer or Cloud Execution for Desktop (CEfD) and an Alteryx Cloud workspace. It is designed to streamline workflows by eliminating the need to repeatedly select a Link whenever you use SDK-based tools or cloud features. The Active Link is stored locally in Designer.

New User Onboarding:
When you first launch Designer, the Cloud Link Wizard guides you to connect to Alteryx Cloud. You can either activate licensing via the cloud or add a new cloud Link in Connection Manager. The Link you select in this process automatically becomes your Active Link.
First Cloud Interaction:
The first time you use a cloud-connected feature, Designer prompts you to connect via the Cloud Link Wizard. Once the Link is created and authenticated, it is saved in DCM and set as your Active Link.

Change Active Link
You can set a Link as Active through the Designer UI. Only when a new Active Link is selected does it replace the old link for all future SDK-based tool interactions, and all subsequent SDK-based tools default to the new Active Link. However, existing tools that are configured manually with a specific Link remain unchanged. If no Active Link is selected when a tool requests one, Designer displays an error message: No active link selected. Please select an active link.
To change the active link, go to File > Manage Connections to open Connections Manager in Designer. In the Alteryx Links tab, locate the link and select it as an Active Link. The Active Link change is instantly applied globally across Designer.
