Workflow Migration Utility

The Workflow Migration Utility is available in Designer 2025.2 and later. It allows administrators to automatically convert existing workflows that use the older connector versions into workflows that use the newer connector versions with the shared experience of Designer Desktop and the cloud Alteryx One applications.

This migration ensures continued reliability, supportability, and cross-platform consistency for workflows across Designer Desktop, Designer Cloud, and Server environments.

Currently, the utility supports migration of these connectors:

Prerequisites

  • Professional Edition of Alteryx One Platform.

  • Admin permissions to configure and run the utility.

Access the Utility

  1. Open Alteryx Designer.

  2. Go to the Options tab.

  3. Select Migration Utility from the menu.

The Migration Utility interface displays all workflows that contain the older versions of the connectors supported for migration.

Configure the Migration Utility

  1. The utility automatically identifies all workflows that contain the older versions of the connectors supported for migration.

  2. Define connection mapping.

    1. Map each connector connection that you're migrating from to its corresponding new DCM connection for the connector you're migrating to.

    2. If the connector that you're migrating from didn't use DCM, you can map the original connection string to a DCM connection ID.

  3. Select Run Migration.

The utility updates tool configurations across the selected workflows, replacing connectors with the new versions of their counterparts.

Migrations are processed in a sequence, with logs provided for each workflow.

  4. Review the results. The utility generates a migration report summarizing:

    • Total workflows scanned and migrated.

    • Successful and failed migrations.

    • Error details and any workflows requiring manual review.

Additional Details

  • Migration is supported only for connectors that have new version equivalents.

  • Admin rights are required to run the tool.

  • The existing DCM and non-DCM connections must be mapped manually before migration.

  • Failed migrations are logged, and the process continues for other workflows.
