Create synthetic data with GenAI and get started building workflows before you have access to the real data. Use the Synthetic Input tool to save time by prebuilding your workflows with synthetic data.

Note

GenAI-assisted tools are currently in Public Preview. They might have known issues, might not include all intended features, and is subject to change without notice.

Tool Components

The Synthetic Input tool has 2 anchors (1 input and 1 output):

  • M input anchor: Use the M input anchor to connect the model connection settings from the llm_override_icon.png LLM Override Tool.

  • D output anchor: Use the D output anchor to pass the synthetic data downstream.

Configure the Tool

  1. Add a Synthetic Input tool to the canvas.

  2. Connect the M input anchor to an llm_override_icon.png LLM Override Tool.

  3. Accept the Alteryx Preview Terms and Conditions.

  4. In the Use Case Selection section…

    1. Enter the use case that you want your synthetic data to represent. For best results, be descriptive and specific.

    2. Enter column names for the types of data you want included in the synthetic data. You must enter at least one.

  5. In the Configurations section, enter the Number of Rows your synthetic data should have.

  6. Run the workflow.

Output

The Synthetic Output tool outputs AI-generated synthetic data that contains column headers and data matching your use case and specified column names.
